What exactly is a CareFree Enzyme Product?
A CareFree Enzyme product is a
non-bacterial, extremely concentrated, readily biodegradable product deriving its efficacy through 3 primary sources. The
three primary sources are:
- A readily biodegradable blend of select non-ionic surfactants chosen for their emulsification attributes and realitively
low order of aquatic toxicity.
- A concentrated, supplemented, mineral and nutrient rich extract derived from a carefully controlled fermentation.
- The incorporation of a broad-spectrum enzyme package from a proprietary fermentation of innocuous yeast strains.
What is the mechanism by which a CareFree Enzyme product
performs?
Due to the extreme complex chemical composition of a CareFree Enzyme product, the exact
nature of how the product actually works would be nearly impossible to define. What is known is that an intricate interplay
between the active ingredients of a CareFree Enzyme product and the indigenous bacteria results in a dramatic reduction of
organic contaminants (BOD, COD, TSS, TPH, FOG, odor, ect.) depending upon how the product is applied and the friendliness
of the environment it is used in.
What is the function of the surfactant blend in a
CareFree Enzyme product?
The surfactant blend serves to emulsify organic contaminates. This action helps to reduce
fatty particle sizes and breaks apart surface accumulation of oily materials. In doing so, a greater total surface area of
the organic contaminate results. This enables the enzymes to rapidly enhance the indigenous bacteria to synergistically act
upon these contaminants.
What is the function of the nutrient-rich extract
in a CareFree Enzyme product?
Critical to the overall performance of a CareFree Enzyme product, the highly-concentrated,
supplemented nutrient package plays a pivotal role in product efficacy by introducing select nutrients designed to "kick-start'"
the indigenous bacteria population in order to improve their continuous assault on problem contaminants.
What is the function of the broad-spectrum enzyme
base in a CareFree Enzyme Product?
The numerous types of compatible enzymes and co-enzymes act as a catalyst for the indigenous
bacteria. These catalysts accelerate the natural chemical chain reaction process without changing the extent or final result
of the process.
Why is there settled material at the bottom of the
drums of a CareFree Enzyme product?
A CareFree Enzyme product is very concentrated and contains hundreds of organic compounds.
Settling is perfectly natural and will not affect the performance of a CareFree Enzyme product.
What is the optimal storage situation for a CareFree
Enzyme product, and what is the shelf life?
A CareFree Enzyme product can be stored at ambient conditions or refrigerated. It is not
recommended that the product be exposed to prolonged temperatures above 120 degrees fahrenheit, direct sunlight or that
it be allowed to freeze. Shelf life of the product is related to its storage conditions, but under optimal conditions shelf
life may exceed one year. Refrigeration will prolong shelf life. Always keep the drum of the product tightly closed
when not in use. Strong acids, bases, oxidative agents and customary disinfectants will inactivate enzymes.
Is BirdBath Protector, Small Fountain Protector and
Mosquito Free Water safe for my pets or children?
Yes, BirdBath Protector, Small Fountain Protector and Mosquito Free Water are completely
safe for your pets or children that may drink from the BirdBath or Fountain.
How do I know the total gallons of water
in my water feature?
Measure in feet. Multiply (length) x (width)
x (depth). Multiply result by 7.481 This equals total gallons of water.
How do I maintain my Pond?
A balanced ecosystem needs mechanical or biological
filters (where good Indigenous Bacteria is allowed to grow), plants fish and CareFree Enzymes. Taking out any of these
elements will cause the ecosystem to work less effectively - which means the conditions of ponds can deteriorate and form
contaminants such as slime, sludge, algae, and cloudy/green water. In water, CareFree Enzymes are needed to digest excess
nutrients. Nutrient matter is produced from dead plants, insects, uneaten fish food and waste from pond creatures. These
nutrients accumulate in water because the water cannot keep up with what it is being fed. Enzymes break these components
into harmless carbon dioxide. Adding enzymes will naturally do in days what would normally take Mother Nature months
or years to accomplish; without the use of chemicals. All CareFree Enzymes products are uniquely formulated to keep
water clear and to prevent organic buildup.
Use the formula above to calculate the total
gallons of water in your pond.
What do I use for Start-up?
CareFree Enzymes: Chlorine/Chloramine Destroyer
- Nullifier
This will eliminate Chlorine and Chloramines
found in city water which may damage the gills of fish. Use as directed.
CareFree Enzymes: Pond Builder-Starter
It is important that you start your biological
filter with good natural bacteria each year. Use as directed.
The start-up stage can take 4-6 weeks.
Bacteria will not grow at water temperatures under 45 degrees.
Why does my pond turn green?
This condition may be the result of poor bacteria
growth in the biological filter. Use CareFree Enzymes Builder/Starter to restart the biological filter.
Weekly use CareFree Enzymes Pond Protector to feed nutrients into the biological filter. It is important that
your pond is balanced: the right size filter, the correct number of fish and plants.
What do I do about string algae?
This condition is the result of having an infected
tropical plant introduced into the pond. Lilies, parrot feather, lotus, water lettuce and azolla plants are common hosts
for string algae. Once introduced into the water, string algae will take over. Hand cultivation will control its growth;
most treatments are highly toxic and can cause harm to fish and other plants. CareFree Enzymes Pond Protector will take the
food away from string algae and help to stunt the growth.

What are Enyzmes? How do they
work?
Enzymes are proteins, produced by organisms,
and are a very important part of the natural process of consumption.Enzymes act as catalysts, allowing molecules of the food
chain (algae, slime, sludge, etc.)to be digested.Enzymes allow this process by breaking apart and opening these molecules. These
molecules feed off of dead plants/weeds,water molds, insects, uneaten fish food, waste from pond creatures, and nutrients washed
in after storms.Enzymes help to digest the over abundance of these nutrients.Enzymes absorb these unwanted materials and turn
them into harmless carbon dioxide. This breakdown process occurs naturally in water, however,by adding enzymes the process is
accelerated.Enzyme treatments work more effectively with aeration,by turning water aerobic.Aerobic means that there is oxygen
present.Having oxygen present diminishes viruses, fungi, and parasites that affect fish and plants.Aerobic water also eradicates
odors.
